How and Who We Serve
Local Community Resource Providers:
With built partnerships within the communities we serve, we develop an ongoing relationship. We learn about the programs and resources each organization offers and the population they serve. We offer our support by donating tangible immediate needs, peer support to specific individuals and or families.
Referred Individuals and Families:
By partnering with local community resource providers, we serve as Peer Advocates to provide additional support to individuals and or families. This comes in the way of referral from the trusted caseworkers and other partners within the local communities we serve on a case by case basis.
Street Level Outreach:
Apart of what makes Project Love unique, is our spirit to intentionally know and serve our homeless neighbors. Street outreach is exactly what it is! At any given moment, our team of Peer Advocates will encounter someone in need out and about on the streets. We love to engage with those individuals that may be looking for a hand out. We are happy to accommodate our friends with immediate needs, but not without offering a hand up! We seize the opportunity to intentionally listen, validate, and help them understand the support and resources offered within their community. Seeing individuals as worthy of being seen, creates connection, generates hope, and opens doors to change!
Peer Advocacy:
Peer Advocates have personally navigated through and overcome their own set of diverse challenges. They can compassionately relate to those experiencing struggles. Each Peer Advocate empathizes with vulnerable individuals and understands the complex belief systems formed from surviving tough situations. Our goal is to help individuals identify self-defeating behaviors and barriers, empower them with the truth, encourage them to recognize their potential, and promote opportunities for growth and stability through the services offered in their local community. Through intentional listening and validation, our Peer Advocates accept, encourage, and elevate people to see past their current circumstances.
Various Community Events:
Project Love participates in a variety of community resource fairs and community events that are geared to marginalized populations. Our team of advocates and volunteers bring clothes and other essential need items to give away to those in need. This is a way of networking with other services providers, discover other ways we can serve the community, and love on our neighbors in need.
Seasonal Giving:
We LOVE to give, give on purpose, for a purpose! Our annual Christmas Give creates a warm family feel to the local homeless population. We invite our friends in off the street to enjoy some warmth for their body and spirit. We collect clothing, tents, blankets, boots, jackets, plus many more items, and allow them to help themselves to what ever they desire without restrictions. Project love procures new items through donations, drives, giving trees, and wraps each gift and places them under a Christmas tree. With the help of volunteers of all ages, our team generates the feeling of home for the holidays.
Municipalities and Community Development:
Project love is dedicated to knowing what is going on at all levels in the community. We attend various municipal community meetings where the topics of discussion are focused on the needs of the community and the populations they serve. These meetings address the need for resources, services, and solutions for the marginalized populations. We provide feedback from those we serve and help voice the needs we encounter.
